Met more people I know today! Yay!

Today's theme is a bunch of numbers and letters arranged in a human-constructed constraint system! That's right boys, girls, and Hebrews (haha, just kidding... um...) -- SUDOKU!

Craccum Sudoku. How intriguing. At first glance, it looks like rubbish. Typical of Craccum to come out with something useless. BUT WAIT upon close examination THE PROBLEM at its INITIAL STATE is NOT VIOLATING ANY SUDOKU RULES?!!!?!!

HOW IS THIS?!

Maybe it is not rubbish! Maybe it is real!

So I decided to solve it by hand. Here is the question.

Here are the rules:

Every 4 x 4 square can only contain 0-9, A-F once (hexadecimal numerals)
Every row can only contain 0-9, A-F once.
Every column can only contain 0-9, A-F once.

M.I.N.D thing.

I think this is correct
I think this is utter bullshit

Your basic approach to thinking involves hunches and group input . When you are learning something new you prefer to work in groups and be fond the new material. When trying to solve problems you generally choose to work in groups and discover solutions. When you communicate you generally use own knowledge and are amiable .

You are generally seen as very personable. It is very important to you that people work and live in harmony. People feel you are very empathetic and will come to you with their personal problems. You are probably an outwardly emotional person. You prefer work in groups or teams. You just noticed they said the same thing three times. You enjoy talking with people even strangers. You generally are interested in people's feelings and the meaning behind what happens. You learn best by listening, sharing ideas and combining the new with your own experience, or those of friends, co-workers or other learners.

You appear to lack of a preference for or possibly dislike intuitive thinking. This also can indicate that you don't like to take risks. To you hunches, gut feelings, instant insights or inspirations are not valid ways of finding solutions to problems. You probably are somewhat conservative and prefer tradition over the 'brand new' or the 'newest fads'. Brainstorming sessions are probably annoying to you or you put little stock in them.

The following nouns and/or adjectives tend to describe PROBABLE STRENGTHS of yours:
socializer
joiner
personably verbal
adaptable
working member
rule challenger

The following nouns and/or adjectives tend to describe POSSIBLE WEAKNESSES of yours:
too friendly
get too involved in others lives
don't know when to back off
unprofessional seeming at times
give in too often
don't stand up for yourself

I'd say it's around 50/50. This test is bullshit lol, talk about guess and run.

I'm sick of always hearing
All the sad songs on the radio
All day it is there to remind
An over-sensitive guy that is lost and alone, yeah

I hate our favorite restaurant, our favorite movie, our favorite show,
We would stay up all through the night
We would laugh and get high, and never answer the phone

I can't forgive, can't forget
Can't give in, what went wrong
Cause you said this was right
You fucked up my life

I'm sick of always hearing
Sappy love songs on the radio
This place, it's fucking cursed and it's plagued
And I can never escape when my heart it explodes

I can't forgive, can't forget
Can't give in, what went wrong
Cause you said this was right
You fucked up my life

I'm kicking out fiercely at the world around me
What went wrong
I'm kicking out fiercely at the world around me
What went wrong
I'm kicking out fiercely at the world around me
What went wrong
I'm kicking out fiercely at the world around me
What went wrong
I'm kicking

I think I will get to do COMPSCI marking again this semester. Yay!

iPod recovered and (from a quick test) fully functional! (just have to like, re-tag evrything which is a massive pain but I'll do it sometime never)
Okay, so now that my iPod is slowly absorbing music and such, I was just poking around and discovering podcasts (episodic shows transferred through the internet) when I came across this.

http://www.bizarremag.com/real_people.php?id=1596

I have only one word.

KUMQUAT.
Phew! Finally sorted all 50gb of music into folders. I realise I only have a 40gb iPod, thus, I culled a lot of songs. Especially all the rap I got from John. It's taken me forever to sort it all out ;_; but I've finally done it! (Although I do admit at the end (today) I just got sick of it and deleted everything that I wouldn't miss, rather than being collectivistic.)

In the process, I rediscovered a whole lot of songs I never knew I had, or remembered I had and just forgotten about them, etc etc. Music.

Music is so good.

I'm going to attempt to recover my iPod now.

Match: 75% Friend: 73%

My self-summary:

I'm not an idealist, but although I know I can't change the world anymore than a butterfly can, I can't see myself ever being content unless I am trying. In saying that, I'm not one of those loud, enthusiastic grab-a-megaphone-and-a-placard-and-join-the-protest types. Well not anymore, at least. I haven't lost my interest in politics but it's just sort of going through a process of evolution. I used to want to be a politician but then I realised I would be terrible at that, then I wanted to be a journalist but every year there are like 200 graduates applying for about 20 jobs, and most of the newsrooms are full of bitchy upper middle class white girls anyway. So I'm thinking now about pursuing a career with the diplomatic service or NGOs and aid organisations. At various other points in my life from the age of four I have wanted to be a postman, an author, a travel agent, a volcanologist and an interpreter.

The sexuality question often pops up. I have had experiences with both sexes and they have affected me in different ways, yet with each person I was with, regardless of their gender, I have felt that same tingling, vibrant feeling of being physically and emotionally intimate with another human, and that is what is most important for me. I am not an inherently "anti-label" person - I think the use of labels can often be useful - but if I had forced myself to choose between being exclusively gay or straight, I would have cut myself off from enjoying some incredible encounters in my life so far, so this why I have chosen not to label myself this way. Some people say that they are born homosexual or heterosexual, I think we are born sexual.

I'm kinda shy and most people pick up on it, but in the right environments I totally open up. If someone asks me for my opinion on something that I have formed strong opinions about, I'm not gonna hold back.

What I'm doing with my life:
I am in my first year of an arts degree at the University of Auckland, with a double major in Russian language and Political Studies. I hope to eventually graduate with first class honours in Politics and go onto a Masters degree in international studies.

I have been working at a supermarket on the fringe of the city this past year, but will be handing in my notice very soon as I am moving into a studio apartment in the city center and will need a new job there.

I really should be involved with some of the clubs at university, but most of them are either branches of political parties (for which I no longer have an interest) or offshoots of various religious cults. I will try to be more involved this coming year.

I'm really good at:
Very little, unfortunately.

My life is defined by mediocrity - I can't think of anything that I can truly say I am really good at. I'm a good student, but there are so many who consistently receive better grades. I'm a good pianist, but there are so many more accomplished. I'm a good writer, but there are so many more lyrical. Get the idea?

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me:
Quite honestly it's probably my shyness an the fact that I'm not usually smiling.

My favorite books, movies, music, and foods are:
(a) Favourite books: Watership Down by Richard Adams. Fiver forever!

(b) Favourite movies: I am partial to thrillers and original, quirky romantic comedies (so not the turgid Kate Hudson variety), but I love films from all genres so long as they're good. A few of my favourites are Lilya 4-Ever, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Serendipity, Cast Away.

(c) Favourite music: Most of my music collection is singer songwriters and jazz along the lines of Joan Armatrading, Nick Drake, Regina Spektor, Leonard Cohen, Billie Holliday. Tom Waits, Tracy Chapman.

(d) Favourite foods: Lasagne. My favourite drink is a rum and coke.

The SIX things I could never do without:
1. My dreams and ambitions. What are we but what we want to become? I bet someone has said that before me, but if not thats awesome because it sounds intelligent and makes a lot of sense too. So many people have allowed the emotionless mediocrity of everyday life to consume them. It's very important to continue hoping and dreaming, no matter how content one is with where they're at. At least it is to me anyway, which is why I list it as number one thing I could never do without.

2. Cities. I will always live in one. The bigger the better. I can't stand being away from one for more than a few days, I feel like I'm missing out on life if I do. How do people survive in the country? Best city in the world must be New York followed by whichever cities are within driving distance of New York, although seriously some cities I would like to live in during my life are Seattle, London, Madrid and Moscow.

3. My iBook. Had to have a purely consumer good on here and this is it. Love it love it love it. I spend more time with this beautiful thing than anyone or anything else in my life (but I'm not a geek, honest).

4. Movies. I'm not one a Spielberg-worshipping film student or anything, but I live at the cinemas and I take my films very seriously, so if you're thinking about texting away on your cellphone or chatting to the person next to you in the same showing I'm in, you better hope your out of arms or swinging bags length from me.

5. Music. Love making it and listening to it.

6. Love. I know, corny, but for most of us I think it's true. To quote Celine from Before Sunrise, "Isn't everything we do in life a way to be loved a little more?"

On a typical Friday night I am:
Probably not in a bar with a lot of other people. I'm not excessively shy, but in an environment where one must compete for attention by shouting over the top of loud music, I never enjoy myself. If I'm with just one person, I don't mind, because they are automatically paying attention to me and what I'm saying, but once there is more than three in the group, I get unintentionally shunted to the side.

I may, however, be dancing in a discotheque. I love dancing because it gives me an opportunity to take part in a social activity with many other people without having to worry about actually being sociable (loud, funny and entertaining).

Most likely I'm browsing through Borders and then going to the movies.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here is:
I don't have any friends.

I have and have always had many acquaintances but also very few real friends. At the moment I have none.

Firstly, as mentioned above, although I am not a total recluse or introvert, I find it very hard to command the attention of an audience larger than two. This has meant that since the age of thirteen I've never had a "circle of friends" and that I've tended to form very close one-on-one friendships instead. No problem with that, except when those friendships end for various reasons I have no one else to turn to.

I am also afflicted by jealousy which I think stems from a fear of missing out on life. I often think someone is doing at any given moment. For example, if I am not doing anything on a friday night, I will think,'what is such-and-such a person doing tonight? I bet they're at a party, the center of the conversation, drinking, laughing, having a ball.' Whatever I am doing never lives up to what I imagine other people are.

The main problem is, however, that I don't really like many people. It's not that I think I'm better than everyone else - I'll openly concede to being vain, hypocritical, judgemental and sometimes superficial - but with my jealousy problem I don't just dislike people with predominantly bad attributes but also people with many good ones because I see them as being better than me.

You should message me if:
You're not put off by someone who is moody, confused and not particularly easy to like.

Weird thing to say I know, but I'm not really using this as a personal ad, so I don't feel the need to sell myself as this brilliantly intelligent, emotionally astute, sexy, mysterious, charming, confident heart throb. Although I do like holding hands and long walks on the beach.

Positives:

Likes beaches. (+2)
Music! (+5)
Mentioned Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. (+1)

Negatives:

Not particularly easy to like. (-2)
