It is a very sad state when you wake up at 1.30pm.
I think I should get some earlier nights. Three consecutive post-midnight days are not good for you. There is some medical reason too. Something about the production of melatonin or something. My dad would know, he knows a lot.
Someone is trying to break into our house. I hear the knocks on the windows. The objects fall to the floor, the clunk of intruders pushing against our glass sliding door. It is quite disturbing.
It may be our neighbours' cats. Sure they are annoying but I wouldn't cut off their whiskers or poison them.
I should really start on the Academy of Strings composition. I am, however, very lazy.
It is now 11:51pm. The prospect of an "early night" died about four hours ago.
My mum is making "keropok" with "acar-acar". Basically, think of a giant version of those cassava vege-chips, with a pickled lime and vegetable...pickle sauce thing.
I am reading some stuff by Chuck something. The same guy who wrote Fight Club. I am reading "Diary". It is rather morbid.

Walking up Julia's driveway at 3 in the morning, the weirdest thing happened. I was just walking and I swear the world suddenly turned black and white with massive contrast. The piece of paper someone (I can't remember who) was holding was pure white...there was no moon or light source out. So it was just like all the white objects going up/down that driveway were glowing of their own accord...

My mum makes sense. It is annoying :\ She compared the Music part of my conjoint to her Flower-arrangement course she did *quite* a while back...basically when she first started there was always a triangle that she had to arrange flowers too, etc and there were all these stupid rules and then at the end it was just freestyle flower-arrangement (bahha I can just imagine all these old ladies being all hip and cool and freestyle...) anyway yeah it's kinda like the music part of my conjoint. It's a stupid rule. I don't really liek it at the moment.
Mainly because I have an exam in about two hours.
I hate exams. They are not a very good way of testing your knowledge I do not think.
Like Computer Science. They don't even let you use a computer in the exam. >.> It's computer science dammit

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
I got paid today, to watch this surprisingly good film. Movie. Uh, whatever. Yeah. It was very enjoyable, simply because it didn't take itself too seriously, the characterisation of everyone was hilarious and/or cool, and yeah. I can't explain why I liked it. It looked really good too, nice um rich colours blah blah. But yeah. I liked it. XD Probably because it doesn't take itself seriously, and stuff.

I am not quite sure what to say. This is a chain letter from my sister.
New kind of Breast Cancer - DO NOT DELETE
Please forward to all of the women in your lives .. Mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, friends, etc.
In November, a rare kind of breast cancer was found. A lady developed a rash on her breast, similar to that of young mothers who are nursing.
Because her mammogram had been clear, the doctor treated her with antibiotics for infections. After 2 rounds, it continued to get worse, so her doctor sent her for another mammogram. This time it showed a mass.
A biopsy found a fast growing malignancy. Chemo was started in order to shrink the growth; then a mastectomy was performed; then a full round of Chemo; then radiation. After about 9 months of intense treatment, she was given a clean bill of health.
She had one year of living each day to its fullest. Then the cancer returned to the liver area. She took 4 treatments and decided that she wanted quality of life, not the after effects of Chemo. She had 5 great months and she planned each detail of the final days. After a few days of needing morphine, she died. She left this message to be delivered to women everywhere:
Women, PLEASE be alert to anything that is not normal, and be persistent in getting help as soon as possible.
Paget's Disease: This is a rare form of breast cancer, and is on the outside of the breast, on the nipple and aureole It appeared as a rash, which later became a lesion with a crusty outer edge. I would not have ever suspected it to be breast cancer but it was. My nipple never seemed any different to me, but the rash bothered me, so I went to the doctor for that. Sometimes, it itched and was sore, but other than that it didn't bother me. It was just ugly and a nuisance, and could not be cleared up with all the creams prescribed by my doctor and dermatologist for the dermatitis on my eyes just prior to this outbreak. They seemed a little concerned but did not warn me it could be cancerous.
Now, I suspect not many women out there know a lesion or rash on the nipple or aureole can be breast cancer. (Mine started out as a single red pimple on the aureole. One of the biggest problems with Paget's disease of the nipple is that the symptoms appear to be harmless. It is frequently thought to be a skin inflammation or infection, leading to unfortunate delays in detection and care.)
What are the symptoms?
1. A persistent redness, oozing, and crusting of your nipple causing it to itch and burn (As I stated, mine did not itch or burn much, and had no oozing I was aware of, but it did have a crust along the outer edge on one side.)
2. A sore on your nipple that will not heal. (Mine was on the aureole area with a whitish thick looking area in center of nipple).

Had a nice dinner with William and my parents today.
Yesterday my mum donated blood. For those of you who know my mum you will find this hilarious, like I do. =) Apparently most of the people there were rejected cause their English wasn't good enough. And apparently it's almost like a gameshow, she got through and they're all congradulatory and clappage, etc.
My dad wins at casinos by counting cards :P he doesn't do it very long though, so he doesn't get busted.

Hello, my name is Edwin. I just recently got into game remixes. I would say that Super Mario RPG is a very excellent game so I decide to look for some songs. When I first listened to your arrangement of "Sad Song" I was absolutely mesmerized. The music spoke my very soul. It actually made me cry. (I recently got of a relationship and I have been feeling very depressed lately) I listen to this song constantly. As a matter of fact I'm listening t it now. But the reason for this letter is asking for request for the sheet music for your arrangement. I would absolutely would appreciate it. I also would like to say that I a new fan and will hope for the best for you and your music career. Keep up the good work!
I have no idea how "my" music spoke to his soul (because 1. its really not THAT great/technical/musically unique 2. i didnt write or perform the piece 3. um hi) Also, here are some commonly mispelt words (tee hee)

If I'm correct, the aim of mowing your lawn is to make it look better. To force all the poor blades of grass and other miscellena to conform to your false standard of unified height, etc etc
Anyway. My mum was trying to mow the lawn at 8pm last night. -_- I convinced her to stop so that I'd do it today.
I didn't think it was possible for a lawn to look worse after mowing, but it seems I managed very well...went from green to black o_O
I think our water mains is leaking.
The ground around it is always muddy.
And also, don't try to mow lawns that are wet if you have a lousy electric lawnmower like we do. I almost mowed the cable too. Hmm. That would have been, uh, exciting.

Not to sound obscenely bitter or anything, but I love it how The Times turned an article on the Macleans College Talent Quest into a 44th Calibre article.
I think my animosity towards them is unfounded. Perhaps they're just too good. :o (Well, Alex is anyway.)
Perhaps I don't like Nikita because she's really up herself (oops did I just type that out)
Maybe I'm jealous?

Am I annoyed that Fist Full of Fives doesn't seem to be going anywhere?
Maybe. (probably not.)
Or am I annoyed at just how much the paper likes whoring the 44th? >.> Why don't they do an article on Dennis? I mean, surely if they come in the finalists for one of High School Rock Music Bands' most important competition thingies, doesn't a finalist entry in the Kodak Music Video awards mean anything?
How the hell do they get in the paper anyway? Did they have to ask? I would feel like such a scab if I had to ring up a paper and ask them to do an article on anything, especially anything I was involved in. :o

AN eclectic mix of Macleans College students will compete in the school’s annual talent quest this week.

There have been an overwhelming number of entries in the competition, well exceeding previous years.
“We ended up with so many entries we have been having trouble fitting everyone in,” said head girl Lara Markstein.
“We’ve got solo dancers, group dancers, solo and group singers as well as instrumentals. There’s rock to blues to jazz. It’s a fantastic variety.”
Organised by prefects, sponsorship helped to secure prizes this year.
“In the past it has been held at lunchtimes. But because so many parents want to come and see the talent, we decided to do an evening finals night.”
One of the headline acts is rock band The 44th Calibre, which was recently selected for the national finals of the Rockquest competition to be held in Wellington on September 3.
The 44th Calibre features Nikita Tu-Bryant on lead vocals and guitar, Adam Walker, guitar, Patrick Sham, guitar and backing vocals, Ashleigh Hope, bass, and Alex Freer on drums and backing vocals.
The talent quest provides the band with valuable performance practice.
“It’s good we can take our minds off the Rockquest until the day comes,” said Nikita.
“[The talent quest] is great especially when you have support and people who know you.”
Alex said school friends offer the band encouragement.
“There aren’t as many nerves because you have friends in the crowd. At Rockquest you just don’t know what is going to happen.”
The 44th Calibre was established two and a half years ago and since then has recorded a single and developed a music video.
“We will see where Rockquest takes us,” said Ashleigh.
“If we succeed then that’s awesome but if we don’t we will stay together and see where we end up. I would love to start in New Zealand and then maybe go overseas — that would be wicked cool.”
This will be the last time the band can compete in Rockquest, with Adam and Patrick in their final year at the school.
The Macleans College talent quest starts 7.30pm, Friday, September 2, in the gymnasium. There will be a small entry charge."

Work today. It was tons more enjoyable than last week mainly because I didn't end on a bad note...yeah.
The theme for 8-10s today was "Superstars" or something - basically it involved making random "fashion apparel" (from bits of coloured paper and with glue and string. bahahah), choreographing their own dance routine (my group's one sucked but won for some reason) and Singstar. Yeah, I got paid to listen to kids play Singstar. I was gonna play too but we went overtime and I had to go do signout- didn't want to screw up again like last week or whatever...
Yeah. Assignments coming in strong. But! I am good at matrices. Oh yeah. I can find the eigenvalues, eigenvectors, stochastic matrix and for a Markov Chain find the steady state vector. >.>
I got my payslip. Did you know I get taxed 7%? I think that's tiny as. National was offering tax cuts? I hardly get taxed as it is...>.>
I've made $914.07 before tax from council this year and they've taken 64.38 as tax. not too bad, I say, not too bad at all. One day of this holiday program stuff earns me $78.18 at the moment (after tax) - being paid $9.89 to play Singstar. >:D

In a moment of pure genius, I thought that a similar service is urgently required for
animal attacks. For instance if a surfer is attacked by a shark it is difficult for him to
identify the specific shark that attacked them. Many innocent sharks have died in the
past because they were mistaken for the actual attacker.
Because I cannot draw, I have decided to solve this problem using a computer program
rather than an artist. Because I am lazy, I have decided that you are going to write this
program for me.
Your task is to write a computer program that asks the user several questions about an

Hello! Yesterday Sonny brought me (for the first time) to Ken Yakitori bar. Apart from everything costing a gazjsilihillion dollars and apparently the people are Korean, not Japanese, it was a great atmosphere and a great place (and great food)
I had a lychee cocktail which was good (not as alcoholic as I would have liked but meh), a couple of their random skewers (chicken mince, prawn, beef sirloin, etc) and this cool chicken thing which I forget the name of - it's like a chicken nugget, only with a crispy almondish coating. Mmm.
But the most interesting thing was the free cabbage. Yeah, cabbage. And it actually tasted pretty good, kinda sweet. Very interesting...
I got my two assignments done, finally. (due yesterday)

I have two saber spoons!

1 litre of Mountain Dew is not only not very good for you at 12.5% sugar content but it has quite possibly the most bizarre aftertaste I've ever had from a soft drink. It's really weird. Like, I even drank it before but today for some reason it just tasted foul. Urgh. Not drinking 1 litre of anything that fast that soon ever again o_O

Here's a David and Goliath story for you.
You know how we have a wireless network at home, yes?
You know how it's good, yes?
You know how it's slowly been deteriorating, yes?
Well...it appears that ants made a home inside (yes, inside) our wireless access point...and ate the inside to bits -_- And apparently there were ant eggs too. ;_; So those bastard ants killed our wireless network.
Richard says to me "no more food at this table". He forgets that I'm not the only one at this table, and I don't leave my food slovenly and sloppily lying around o_O or maybe I do. Damn ants.
I had fun with no-ant spray today. They were climbing up the skirting as well. I sprayed them, they died. Take that, bitches. Teach you to destroy our mobility.

I watched the TV1 final leader's debate. Still dunno who to vote for o_O Maybe I shouldn't vote.
Hmm.
And then after that I kept watching TV and stumbled upon this show called Everwood. I dunno. I couldn't stop watching dunno why -_- (probably cause I'm really lazy) but there was a very nice quote in closing from what I guess is the main character, he (Ephram) says:
"The more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm not sure who the first person was who said that. Probably Shakespeare. Or maybe Sting. But at the moment, it's the sentence that best explains my tragic flaw: my inability to change. I don't think I'm alone in this. The more I get to know other people, the more I realize it's kind of everyone's flaw. Staying exactly the same for as long as possible, standing perfectly still... It feels safer somehow. And if you are suffering, at least the pain is familiar. Because if you took that leap of faith, went outside the box, did something unexpected... Who knows what other pain might be out there, waiting for you. Chances are it could be even worse.
So you maintain the status quo. Choose the road already traveled and it doesn't seem that bad. Not as far as flaws go. You're not a drug addict. You're not killing anyone... Except maybe yourself a little.
When we finally do change, I don't think it happens like an earthquake or an explosion, where all of a sudden we're like this different person. I think it's smaller than that. The kind of thing most people wouldn't even notice unless they looked at us really close. Which, thank God, they never do.
But you notice it. Inside you that change feels like a world of difference. And you hope this is it. This is the person you get to be forever... that you'll never have to change again."
I thought it made sense. >.>
I don't like TV series in general because they force you to watch it over a long period of time. Like anime. I like having it all on one (or multiple) discs so you can watch it all, mwahahha, instead of having to wait a week between screenings. It's just not as cool.
I've seen 1-12 of the O.C. and it's great.
o_O Why? I dunno. It's just fast paced and a lot happens.
And as Dennis puts it nicely, there's the beautiful people =P

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Despite my initial misgivings, man, this movie is solid gold (not the radio station) Johnny depp was MUCH better than I had ever expected for him in this role - he isn't really paedophilic, just...quirky. There's lots of levels to him and a whole lot of subtlety...(did I sepll that right >.>) it's great, Freddie Highmore does well, some of the actors look vaguely familiar (like his mum/mom)...the music's great, the visuals are stunning and Tim Burton proves again he's still got the touch. It's fantastical but not to the point where it's unbelieveable. It's like how life might look if you viewed it through a memory.
Willy Wonka gets a lot more backstory to him too. You can't really compare this to the original, they kinda do different takes on the thing.

There is not quite much that's worse than being sick on the eve of your birthday.
You know that "hey, I'm mildly burning all over, my eyes feel like they're giving birth to quintuplets (really really heavy ones), and a blocked nose which somehow manages to unblock for itself to run but not for you to breathe properly..." yeah that feeling.

My sister nicely remembered that I hadn't read any of the Harry Potter books past the second one (which is why I don't care that Dumbledore dies or whatever. Oops.) so she nicely brought over the third and fourth (?) books. I am about halfway through the third book. It is very good.
Harry Potter's a bit old now, eh? It's riveting. "as long as Harry didn't leave spots of ink on the sheets at night nobody would know what he was up to" >.>
Yeah.
But anyway I was reading that and then I forgot that this morning I was supposed to go to have breakfast at McDonalds its good yes BLT bagel even though the mayo is like 90% fat or whatever it's nice and they had sunday star times and raybon kan's back page is brilliant as usual.
I was going to type it out but it's illegal/I can't be bothered.
Then at 10am we went to the Howick Historical Village while they had a live day (the last time I went was part of like a primary school excursion or something and it wasn't terribly interesting) but yeah the live day was pretty good. Tons of arts and crafts and stuff. And I also had a stuffed kumara for lunch. Double awesome. Only thing is linda's cousins were a bit pushy today i dunno why, weren't letting old people through first at doorways, talking loudly, not saying excuse me and politely waiting their turn on craft help/explanation etc but....oh well.

Yeah and then somehow I got fooled into picking donuts to be given to our family (I thought it was for the kidzzzz) and we got 18 donuts. ....
And then yeah Dennis and Kathy came over and we tried William's Douglas Lilburn entry, its fun(ish) yeah

Instead we have some hippy new age lecturer whos name I can't pronounce. I walked into the lecture at 8 in the morning to soothing piano music. There is a two minute break in the middle of the lecture.

Yesterday after watching Moulin Rouge, I watched The Island at the movies. o_O I didn't know Ewan McGregor was in that too. o-o But he's a good actor so I'm not complaining.
The Island is an incredible movie. It's like 2 hours long but it's a good 2hrs, not like Pearl Harbour which was a crap 2 hours. Plot summary : there's like a massive contamination in the world, and there's only one place left in the world free from disease and pollution, which is The Island. The two main characters go to the Island. The plot involves bacon.
It's a great movie.

Moulin Rouge. Total brilliance.
I don't think you can really compare this musical to another musical great, Phantom of the Opera. They're just completely different...one is dramatic and the music is written stunningly, while the other is so human/comedic and the music is an arrangement benchmark.
Yeah. I liked it, only gripe would be that sometimes the bizarro-comedy got a little over the top for my personal taste but I quickly got over it...the music's brilliant, even though they may not have written it...I didn't know Ewan McGregor could sing (so well)...

1. My laptop has a virus. While it's classified as a low security risk or whatever...it's annoying as ****. I really feel like re-installing everything. It just loads multiple copies of all the system processes etc and just slows the computer down like crazy. -_-
2. I watched Nausicaa...and Whisper of the Heart, and a little bit of some other stuff. Studio Gibhli is good. I liked Nausicaa...and Whisper of the Heart. Hmm. If only life was an Anime and you could just follow a script and it would be all predetermined etc...but I guess then it would be an anime, not life. o-O
3. -_- The two cats in Malaysia are dead.

Today no less than 10 ex-Macleans students gathered together for no apparent reason. I won't attempt to list them all because, well, I can't.

as I predicted my mum is coming over tomorrow.
Uh, band practice tonight was totally awesome, we actually completed what we planned to do the practice before and then some. Learnt (or at least got a good start at:)

Hello. I have not been posting much. I blame a certain piece of hardware that can be denoted by three alpha-numeric characters, originally designed in Japan, etc.
Front Mission 4: thumbs super up. ;_; I spent a lot of time on it. The game-play clock says 40 hours. o-o
Yeah. So thats where I've been >.>
Oh yeah also the Rainforest World Music Festival at the Cultural Village somewhere...here in Malaysia. It was pretty cool.
Cons (bad stuff first)
1. Smelly Indian couple who dared to complain when me and my brother (due to a packed auditorium) shared a single seat and though it was totally none of her business she gave a disapproving look and said "dat iz not ryte" as if she was the shizzle of all chairs and everybody utilizing chairs must respect the revered chair-queen. *ahem* We moved. We stayed very long after we got good seats after the first workshop in the auditorium.
2. Listening to Hillbilly music for about an hour on end. The novelty starts wearing after four songs that sound exactly the same, about how cletus died in the monsoon or whatever...and by the fourth song it's...bah.
3. Smokers. Oh, I deplore smokers. I don't mind if I dont have to see/smell/hear the smoke. But ;_; public places smoke = :(
Pros
1. Totally awesome African drumming from the Ivory Coast where they speak le Francais.
2. The Old Spice Boys from australia. Snare drummer (with a splash attached to his snare which is really cool), a tea-chest bassist (the "tea-chest bass" is basically a box, a pole and a string arranged so that it makes sound...) and a ukelele. They were very kool. I bought a CD. ;_; $60. But that's in Malaysian money so after currency exchanges it works out to be roughly okay. The ukelele/frontman-ish Azo Bell also plays the kazoo and the matchboxes, and the bassist plays the spoons.
Yes, the spoons.
3. The Finale, when they got all the different groups on stage and they performed together. Nothing awesomer than bagpipes + drum kit + african drumming + Colombian traditional singers and Italian gypsy percussion all at once. :D at the end it did get a bit messy and those mongolian people were singing way too loud though. But it was cool.

1. Apparently, shark-deterrent has been successfully produced using essence of dead sharks. One of the beneficial claims is that it can be used to stop sharks from coming near fishing trawlers and dying, etc.

they are so cuteeee

one male one female they're mainly black with white paws and underside~ i dunno what you call tat >.> they are mountain cats, just like Red is a mountain dog.
tentative names are Gollum and Legolas but that might get old really quick

oh yeah! KK (kota kinabalu) tour in Sabah, Malaysia...there is a mountain called Mt. Kinabalu, yes...and it's the highest point in South East Asia, yes... >.> and me and William climbed to the summit ;_; it's higher than Mt. Cook. But not as cold. Cause we're at the equator. And such. But yeah. >.> Height of um ~4100m. Imagine a whole lot of sky towers stacked together...yeah.
My legs are still sore from day before >.>
Things learnt while climbing:
Climbing is very tiring.
Going down is just as hard as going up.
Don't bring so much stuff next time o_O
We had acool guide. We stayed and had dinner, like, 3500m above sea level. Hardkore. All the stuff there was lugged up by people! People I tell you, the beds we slept on, the water heater, the cooking stuff for the peopel who made us the dinner BLARRr every little bit was carried up there >< imagine carrying a mattress up. ;_; well, you probably don't realise how high and high and um high the mountain is. 4100 is a very...unobtrusive number, on the screen.
I was surprised too at how high we went...>.> realised on the way coming down (like, 99% downhill. steps. steps.)
It was way fun though. I mean, who else can say they've been to the highest point of South East Asia? >.> The other people who were climbing it ;_;
On the day of the summit ascent we woke up at 1.45am to start going again o_O so that we could hopefully catch the sunrise. We made it to the top by 5:10am but it was a cloudy day so there wasn't much of a brilliant sunrise. And geez it's cold at that level. >.>
4100 is like....how high some of the planes go >.>

Oh yeah, Kim's school is being stupid and collecting newspapers to sell. I mean, it's actually kind of scary. Newspaper everywhere...>.> i thought a school was for learning and that stuff, not collection of newspaper =)

Watching peopel pick fruit is hilarious. It's like an art. They have to like, fondle the fruit just to make sure that somehow they can accurately figure out the sugar levels of say, a persimmon or wahtever >.>
