So I've finished Crysis.
It's a pretty good game; not particularly long really, but *very* pretty. Very very pretty.
But yeah, is it worth upgrading to a supercomputer for? No, not really. But it's pretty.
I am very satisfied with this laptop. The keyboard is a bit weird to the touch though, but the screen resolution is insane, and Vista is pretty good (apart from the - ARE YOU SURE ARE YOU SURE ARE YOU VERY SURE confirmations)

So I just road-tested (read: rode around for like two minutes) my bike again just to make sure it was still in working condition and everything, and it seems to be.
(sidenote; i only wore a helmet this time and man does it feel really weird; like im naked lol, without the gloves and the jacket. that's why people riding scooters die, cause they dont wear protective gear!)
So the only damage to my motorcycle thus far was:
Rear light adjustment (which i promptly moved back into place anyway)
Keylock munted (keys still work but its obviously been tampered with)
Unparalleled paranoia and stress over the whole situation
stabbed people, stolen bikes, whats next, terrorists?!
I don't know if this warrants a call into the shop or not; I'll probably get it up to the first service first at least...get it all done at once, maybe get them to install one of the Steel Mate alarms if they have one...fucking thieves i worked my fucking ass off for that bike

sometime between 1:30am and 9:30am today, some fucking cunt has tried to steal my motorcycle
okay. so maybe this neighbourhood isnt so safe after all
maybe no neighbourhood is safe.
some dick had taken the cover off and moved it about half a metre (cause i had the steering locked and it only moves in circle), and they tried to jam something into the keyhole to turn it off...and all they managed to do was make it look mangled.
im so fucking angry
so okay on one level its kind of my fault that i leave something under a cover outside the house not in plain view
but i was sleeping
and
man, first people get stabbed in howick, then my bike gets tampered with....
fuckin hell. so angry.
like, its not even worth that much (okay maybe 1-2 grand but once you bust the lock who is going to want it??) and its my baby
its like someone just tried to steal my child! BASTARDS
and now im really paranoid that its not going to work properly when i ride it.. they were dumb enough to try and jam what seems like a blunt rock into the keyhole, what other fucktarded stuff would they have tried
FUCK.
this is CHRISTMAS SEASON

11 hour day, today, just because you know, 40 hour weeks just aren't enough punishment for me.
(But seriously I didn't ask for the hours they asked if I could do the extra, and I figured they really needed it, but the person they thought wasn't going to turn up was there when I started, but the store was busy enough to justify my presence anyway so yeah that's that side-rant out of the way)
And working at Borders, you get to see the broad spectrum of humanity. Usually customers are nice and friendly and thankful.
Today, I got a customer who was angry. Why?
Because on the envelope for her gift card that she just bought, I wrote the amount down for her.
She basically shot me daggers, said "I wanted to do that"
And I thought she wanted to fill in the to and from for herself so I pointed out they were still blank
and she just menanced out of her lips "no i wanted to write the price down"
so i chucked out my hideously offensive envelope and offered to get her another one, but she said "no, i'll get it myself, and I'll hold on to it, so that you can't write on it".
...
-_-
seriously woman i was just trying to do you a favour, and it's not like I'm stupid and gonna immediately write on the second one right after you shit on my face for trying to be helpful
her writing had better be fucking gold embossed to be causing such a huge fuss about it
---
like the new gift wrap we just got in! omg. its like....furry
its so cool lol it's hard to explain there's patterns on it, and some areas are fuzzy/furry.
its aWESOME

You know how I said "someone is going to explain this today"? I went in at lunchtime to the Sylvia Park branch, and I did most of the explaining. The stupid Indian lady was under the impression that there was nothing wrong with me being charged $35.00.
I complained about her. Hopefully a manager gives her the "shame finger".

The National Bank has just tried to fucking charge me a $35.00 account fee for my credit card.

BMBS COMPSCI 345 Human-computer Interaction Pass A+ 15.00 |
BMBS COMPSCI 367 The Practice of Artificial Pass A- 15.00 |

BMBS MUSIC 217 Electronic Music 2 Pass B 10.00 |
BMBS MUSIC 311 Composition 6 Pass B+ 20.00 So yeah. A+ A A- B+ B. All five grades lol. Same GPA (7, A-) as last semester only more spread out. I'm happy with these results, considering I did very little work, and totally don't deserve them. But yeah. |
omg lol guess what i just found today on my desk...
my gareth farr concerto notes.
LOL
oh well i already got my marks back so B+ is fine with me lolz lolzlozl
---
The rarest shirt colour to find in Sylvia Park is orange.
I bought an orange t-shirt yesterday.
That makes me rare! Speshial!!! YAYZ
---
The most annoying thing about working at Borders? Well, when the sticker prices are higher than a price written on the product itself, clearly indicating $NZ. I can't find a good explanation to tell customers as to why instead of $24.99 as on the box, we're charging $26.10.
I can't explain it.

Muse concert last night!
Highlights
IMPECCABLE playing from the band, it was really tight and after songs they would do little jam sessions that were really impressive. The drummer was especially solid and Matt Bellamy had his piano with him this time, and it was sweeeeeet. And okay so the bassist doesnt have anything cool to do but he didn't screw up in the slightest so they're awesome. Incredible lightshow, strobes and colours and really well timed with the music, balloons filled with confetti, awesome smoke plumes...and did I mention awesome music? Man. It's like the album x 50.
Lowlights
People not managing to clap in the right tempo as the band...like, they'd end up faster and it would be annoying...luckily Muse ignored the bad Auckland timing. The girl who told me to shut up while we were singing along. I think I gave her ridiculous evils and she said sorry. But then again lol I did yell shut up during Matt Bellamy's piano solo...the ridiculously sweaty people who would walk past and force your contact with them...like people with t-shirts that were *drenched* in sweat...urgh. And then there was this tall dude who had one stance (jumping up and down with his hand raised with a finger to the air) and he had long hair sort of slicked back and he was really sweaty so everytime he jumped it sort of rained sweat behind him onto us...and yeah at first we didn't have a good view and it was really cramped but for some reason about halfway through when we made our way forward it actually got looser. Strange.
As you can see, none of the lowlights are the band's fault. Muse is excellent. I hope they return again!

So I was having a really bad day: put on Calendar Kiosk again (it's like being banished from the store, it really sucks) and also having heaps of difficulty getting time off from work to go on the PaperclipTrip (since they won't give me the days, I had to find people to swap shifts with and it was really stressing me out) and I was just in a really foul mood...
but then!
Holly came along and offered to take one shift and was really nice, and then I found the opposite of OGL (old german lady, bane of music students everywhere) - NGL was formed! It was just this German lady (actually she wasn't that old, less than OGL but like 40 50 maybe and ANYWAY), and she was walking around with a notebook jotting stuff down...at first because I was still in a semi-foul mood I thought she was from a competitor taking notes or something but it turned out she was just writing down the names of calendars she liked so she could come back and buy some on Thursday...we ended up talking and it was a really lovely conversation, about students and my name and how she likes it and Henry James the poet and what an Engagement Calendar was...really gave me the uplift I needed to get through the day.
Here's hoping I don't get CK for the whole day again tomorrow....

I saw Chace today at the calendar stand! It was one of those weird "life moments" you know; I think it was pretty obvious we both recognised each other but still needed a bit of time to remember exactly who the other person was. I was tempted to ask her if she still worked at the Rec Centre but I was only that she used to work there while I was there, after she had left. I also only remembered her name after she left, hence me not referring to her by name. She didn't use my name either yay for shared situational experience, and also asked if I still did basketball there...it wouldn't have helped anyone if I'd pointed out her mistake and said I did after school care so I just said no (since the answer would have been the same in either case)
yeah. yay.
---
I love it when people approach me while I'm working and say things like "I bought ****** from here last year".
You know...that year when...Borders was....not even open....
---
Since Calendar Kiosk days are days where I get lots and lots of time to just stand around aimlessly (although not so much today, it didn't go as excruciatingly slow as it normally does for some reason), I made a list of things that need to be bought if one was to move out to an apartment that didn't come with furnishings of any sort. The sort of things you just sort of walk around in your house and take for granted and use on a daily basis without even realising it.
Here's the list (I warn you, it's long):
and also if anyone is stuck on christmas present ideas for me (lolz)
you can get me:
lint remover (you know those rolly things that remove lint from clothing)
or
that page-a-day calendar with the kittens SO CUTE
or
a new electric shaver yay
but dont you all go getting the same thing now, i dont need 5 lint removers, thanks >.>
<.<
yeah. yay.

Is it really that hard to know which shop you are in?
Why do people try to use PaperPlus gift vouchers at Borders? Did they not notice the trillion signs that announce what store we are? I mean, I can understand trying Westfield (we're not, by the way), but PaperPlus? Whitcoulls? You might as well come in to our store and slap us.
Well actually ok it's not insulting, just confusing as to how people can be so irrevocably retarded.

Band for you to DISCVOER RIGHT NOW:
Battles
they're awesome. its like philip glass meets progressive rock
--
theres a funny book of "spells" @ borders
so yeah scared of ghosts like I am?
apparently all you have to do to ward them off is to flash your genitals.
women, at any time. guys, only if you're erect.
apparently.
WHO COMES UP WITH THAT CRAP
--
heres some lyrics
====
If I could reach the stars I'd pull one down for you
Shine it on my heart so you could see the truth
That this love I have inside is everything it seems
But for now I find it's only in my dreams
That I can change the world
I would be the sunlight in your universe
You will think my love was really something good
Baby if I could change the world
If I could be king even for a day
I'd take you as my queen I'd have it no other way
And our love will rule in this kingdom we have made
Till then I'd be a fool wishin' for the day
That I can change the world
I would be the sunlight in your universe
You will think my love was really something good

lol...yup, this semester hasn't been very good for me i dont think.
got another B, in Electronic music. Well, I figure it will be a B, dunno what the final grade will be but that's what I got for my final work anyway which is like 60% or something. and do i care?
kinda, a bit, but not really. the worst that can happen is...they could cancel my conjoint...or my scholarship...but,.....if they cancelled my conjoint then i could probably already graduate, and if they cancelled my scholarship, i have enough money to pay them back.
yeah!
so yeah.
@!#%(!*#)%(
you know the kind of tired you get, when you get home from a hard day of work, and you know you'd been giving it your all the entire day? yeah, like that right now.

some really shit acting
bizarre pointless scares from loud noises
lack of logic - alaska?!
suffers from matrix-problem: main character suddenly gets inexplicable powers outside of their scope (like when neo can work shit OUTSIDE the matrix its like oh ok yeah whatever)

There's about 90kms on my motorcycle now....
it's still a bit finicky, i mean the engine only cut off...once? I think? but the good thing is that it happens when I'm coming to a stop, and you can restart motorcycle engines (not car engines!) from any gear, so I just restart it anyway, usually there's enough time for me to do it and not piss off the people behind me.
I really need to set my rear view mirrors so that I can actually see behind me...but....just haven't....
So yeah, I think it's coming up to the time where I need to do my first fill-up! That will be fun. I totally have no idea how to do it. Might ask one of the shell dudes, so if they spill any petrol, I don't have to pay.
OR do I?
Hmm.
And yeah, it was great weather today even though metservice said it would be poo.
oh well, im not complaining,....except for the wind which was really freaky on a bike. you take so much for granted in a car, travelling in your own little atmosphere...whereas when you're on a bike you're very much at the mercy of it. Across the bridge of the South Eastern is particularly daunting. But I lived! And it was exciting. And there' s just something about riding a motorcycle that is just...
cool.
I thoroughly recommend it.

Man. I feel like a damn kid. Urgh. How did I get them? I don't have a clue...gah.
Honestly. so itchy.
---
Lilburn was okay. Robbie won again. lol. yeah, the argument can be made that its about a good piece not about giving money out
yeah
but still lol
i guess the rest of the ensemble pieces just weren't good enough?

great new technology called Microsoft Silverlight, basically lets you run .NET crossplatform within your browser as a plugin.
http://www.junkship.org:8000/silverlightdemo/ is really good (follow the instruction at the bottom to get the 1.1 alpha)

Free! Free!
lol but yeah its ok i forgive you for not going :P

I was late home from work today.
Why?
Because we closed 5 minutes late.
Why?
Okay so this old balding man comes in at about 9.30, and gets angry. Why? Because we don't have the January issue of the Australian Cleo. Yeah. JANUARY. This is from a company whose policy is to only have the most current one on the shelf...
So yeah. He gets all bitchy, and then when he's told that he could try contacting the magazine and seeing if they have back issues, he asks us to do that.
Now, let me make it clear that normally, I really like customers. I do my job to make them happy. But that guy was just being a lazy ass. I mean, if we called, we wouldn't be treated any differently. And the difference is, he's the one who wants the magazine. We wouldn't be making any money (actually probably losing some from the lost productivity) and its just a general no.
But then he gets angry.
And then he talks about how we have heaps of wasted space in the store, and we should use it to hold old magazines.
Idiot. We get money back on returns.

it's hard, really hard, i mean, you always want to mean well, but theres always the "what if"
"what if im being stingy"
"what if they wont like it"
etcetc etc but anyway yeah pt1 done anyway
so yeah i was walking out of the store and this fat ass maori dude asks me for change
and i gave him the dollar coin i was holding
now
you could say "i gave it to him to make myself feel better because im giving to society"
but if society is a fat maori dude who's sitting on a bench, will it REALLY make you feel better?
i mean, how'd he get fat anyway
eating cardboard? wth. you know?
but anyway i gave it to him and that was that

Just downloaded Ratatouille OST...so cute! I love the ending theme, "End Creditouilles" :D
Here's a couple of books I want to read:
Stardust - Neil Gaiman
The Da Da De Da Da Code - Robert Rankin
Darkly Dreaming Dexter - ...someone
Digging To Maerica
The Dreaming Void - Peter K Anderson or something like that.
And yeah. There was this hungus poly woman upstairs by the bargain table, and she was enveloping the table, and slapping her hands down on the books for no apparent reason.
At the tills.
Henry: "would you like a bag with that sir"?
*thwack*
Customer: "No, it's okay"
*thwack*

A silly woman at work said: " is it casual day at borders today??"
Why is that silly? Because we don't have a uniform. And yet, just because we dont have uniform doesnt mean I can't wear a shirt that says Borders Sylvia Park and then a hoodie over it.
Lolz!
Sold a copy of The Host today. I was so jealous :( The lady i was serving was really surprised cause when I realised it was The Host the host, I was like "OMG THIS IS AWESOME"
lol
but yeah.
oh yeah! I also sold stuff to my old Farm Cove Intermediate teacher, Fay Bellamy! She looks the same. She didn't really remember me though, apart from the fact that perhaps I was in her Maths group. Which I totally don't remember, anyway. I just remember we did Korean (for a bit, and then I sort of wagged it and didn't do anything, cause the Korean teacher didn't take attendance, so I just showed up somewhere else instead of Korean lectures, but I went to enough classes to know khamsahamnida and domanayo!!!
And speaking of FCI, it also reminded me that I got told off there one time for calling someone else a dildo lol. And guess where I heard the word from? Yes, South Park
TV is the devil ;)

So today I rode my motorcycle to the library yay practicing and keeping that machine running (only died from stop clutch even in-ness once (okay that only makes sense if you know what im talking about))
borrowed new book, "For one more Day" by mitch albom. It's very nice.
and then i finished reading it in 1 1/2 hours today so lol
nothing to read
so i've taken out my first bookloan from borders; flowers for algernon by Daniel Keyes
check out the blurb:
"According to Charlie Gordon, who tells his own story through his journal, he is a mentally retarded adult. He works in a bakery as a janitor, but he is ambitious and hard working. He yearns to have friends and to be smart, like his fellow workers. As such, he is a perfect candidate for an experimental brain operation that promises to increase radically human intelligence. Already tested on Algernon, a mouse, the procedure promises wonderful success. Both mouse and man become brilliant. But Charlie the man now must question his new self and what it is to be a person and to be happy. He confronts the cruelty that marred his childhood. Soon, Algernon’s intelligence diminishes, and Charlie has to face the inevitable reversal."

All is fair
I'm trying to make you notice me but you don't care
You play me like a broken game of Snakes and Ladders
Or cards or piano or a record that's been thrown in the trash
I like you
I've liked you since I saw you walking down my street
I like your little vibe and your clothes and feet
And your hair and your eyes and your
nose and your face and your life
I know your name
And I've got your number
I don't wanna save the world
I just wanna waste some time with you
We're both so young
We might as well face it
I don't wanna change nothing
I just wanna waste some time with you
Three blind mice
I may as well be asking them for stable advice
Instead I'm on a seesaw all day and night
And all week and all month and all year all my life
I'm only human
If only you could see
You do some pretty crazy little things to me
And I don't wanna change the course of history
I just want you to be, next to someone like me
And be free
'Cos I know your name
And I've got your number
I don't wanna save the world
I just wanna waste some time with you
We're both so young
We might as well face it
I don't wanna change nothing
I just wanna waste some time with you
Wasting time
Wasting time with you
Wasting time
Wasting time with you
Now you know
My thoughts about where I would like the story to go
I feel that if you really like to play it cool
We should do it, do it, do it, yeah
I know your name
And I've got your number
I don't wanna save the world
I just wanna waste some time with you
We're both so young
We might as well face it
I don't wanna change nothing
I just wanna waste some time with you

I'm about 1/3 into it. It's very funny, causer well ok the main story is sweet, but it's all the random advice and comments that the otaku/geeks make that crack me up! They talk about Subservient Chicken (the BK thing). lolz
---
Also, I think all shopping malls should have "Job Vacancy" boards where they collate it all...
and the borders toilets really need to have something on the wall like a poster or something cause its boring as hell in there

4. If you run a website or blog yourself, no matter how small, post about the album release with a link to the album site (http://ff7.ocremix.org).
Today has been a busy day. The theme is sort of "hey let's remind Henry he knows a lot of people".
+ Sonny nicely gave me a ride into Tamaki. I forgot that tutorials on Fridays are before instead of after the lecture, so I spent the tutorial reading The color of magic, and then went to class, and then read the color of magic when I realised I'd missed the tutorial.
Side effect? I have finished The Color of Magic. Great book; not really a gripe but an observation is that, well, it really does seem like the first book in a line of many. Terry Pratchett introduces heaps of alluring characters, but you never really go very far with most of them (of course, you're left wanting more but that's besides the point). About the only constant pair are Rincewald and Twoflower for most of the book.
So yeah. Finished that, and then recorded some rubbish noises in the Electronic Studios, then my piece was played at workshop by Jessica and Alice. The two pianos one.
It went alright. I mean, okay, the players made quite a few more mistakes than there were in the quick practice beforehand, but a lot of that can be attributed to nerves, I reckon. It's kind of weird standing down there addressing the workshop. It's like...yeah. Hmm. I dunno in a way it's like you're in a position of power, really. I was just being a smartarse to some guy who thought my piece was confusing (as if, just stop trying to typeify and understand everything)
28th, 28th...am I busy on the 28th? Isn't that Thomas' 21st? The other two piano piece I know of is being performed then, Joseph's. He is a cool guy.
Okay. So yeah, then that happened, and then I walked down to Britomart to meet Arron who had finished school and headed into town and then we bummed around for a while, had dinner at Wendy's with the Steakhouse Double Melt (oh my god, a more impossibly meaty burger you won't find. I swear. It was like, bread, cow, bread)
And then I read a txt from Helen asking about a book that I'd mentioned earlier in my blog. And she was at Borders in town, and me and Arron had finished eating, so we went over to gather for a bit. Then we left.
And then I saw Jessica outside Borders! Random eh. But yeah, I had just been texting her about the next practices for the two piano piece (it was decided none for next week)
Then we watched The Pillowman, at the Maidment Theatre. Man. I sure can't analyze it like you know, weird English students can, but I sure did appreciate it just as much. Very dark, very absurd, and very funny. It kind of makes you feel bad in a way, that you're laughing at such horrible deeds, but I guess that's the whole point of absurdist plays, isn't it? Nothing is worth very much. Something like that. Anyway, the steal of the cast I felt was the detective man. Perfect character, absolutely spot on.
So the three hour play finishes, we make it to Britomart in time for the last bus home. And guess who I see on the last bus home? Jocellin. Yes. Omg. Haven't seen her in AGGGGESS she came back from Korea and she's on break at the moment. Was doing Law, but feels like dropping it for Anthropology. Wants to work for UNESCO (the dudes who do the world heritage sites). Was going to go to America for a student exchange, but now doesn't want to. So yeah, spent most of the bus towards the Pakuranga transfer talking to her.
And then Simon gets on the bus. Simon from Borders Sylvia Park (from work) who used to work at Borders Queen St. Yeah. What the, eh. And he's carrying a borders bag also. Yeah. Um.
And then well, I transfer onto the 52, and then I see Ada Chu and Arunim.
And now I'm here at my computer.
That was far too long and detailed, but I just felt that this was a good day, and now there's a record of it. Awesome, or something.
People count: 11

Awesome, or something.

hmm hang on a minute i have a feeling i have talked about this before, so i shall stop.
tell me if i haven't.
but here's someting that happened todayz yes
I totally stunned this canadian lady, she came up to the counter and I started talking and she just had the weirdest look on her face, then it went something like this:
"You have a beautiful voice!"
"haha, thank you"
"Yeah, it's just that, I wasn't expecting a voice like that from a face like that"

I have started Discworld.
And I must say. Pratchett is a genius. He lulls you into a false sense of security, thinking "oh ok this is just same lame archetypal fantasy book, how overhyped was that" and then BAM here comes the hilarity and subtle trickery. Turtle sex hasn't been funnier.
Maybe the feel of the thing can be summed up by this extract. "It was all very well going on about prue logic and how the universe was ruled by logic and the harmony of numbers, but the plain fact of the matter was that the disc was manifestly traversing space on the back of a giant turtle and the gods had a habit of going round to atheists' houses and smashing their windows."
Even when he doesnt write certain things, it's funny. GAHGAHGHAEHGAHEGHAEGH go read

My car is all serviced and wof'd and good to go. (although I've been driving it around with the fuel on E for quite a while, and the tank light lit up for about 3 seconds yesterday and then went away, so...hmmm....)
The nice people at mitsubishi motors gave me a ride home and picked me up again also. Their car greets them in japanese when you turn it on lol. It's such a crackup.

Man, I am exhausted...
early mornings are not good if they are in a row and if you are on holiday and want to sleep in, dammit.
Well, only one more early start tomorrow until I can sleep in...car needs to go in on Monday, and then Tuesday WOOO i can sleep in
I rode my bike today, finally got sick of my own lame excuses (oh it might rain oh you might stall oh it might be dark when you get back)
well guess what
It rained, I DID stall (three times, once right outside Sylvia park's exit onto Carbine Rd with about 5 cars behind me...and then once at home and once on the pakuranga highway), and it was dark when I got home.
And it was fun. Oh man. David you think driving a car is fun, try a motorbike. just turning feels cool, and you feel every little bit of the road through you; not that it's a crazy uncomfortable bumping spree, but you know every inch of the surface like you don't get through a car.
But yeah. I don't care about the people who were inconvenienced behind me. (embarrassingly) I've gotten really good at wheeling my bike out of the way after stalling (clutch in, roll!) And also, really good at restarting in first gear. And anyway, I didn't block up the roads for that wrong. I did realise that I had stalled lol and I got out of people's way asap. And plus I have the big L PLATE immunity. Beep all you want, but you're beeping at someone who already knows they deserved to be beeped at so you get no satisfaction as your beeping won't be conducive to any sort of improved behaviour!
There is something wrong with my bike though, I think. It likes stalling even when I stop properly (slow down, pop clutch in, change gear down to 1, hold clutch in). Hopefully it's not really a problem. I mean, it's fine when I'm on the South Eastern (and god that is scary if you sit back and think about it, the wind is heaps strong, etc) but if I have to stop, it likes to die on me. It's only at 50ks and the first service is at 1000km.
Maybe I just need to break it in more.

You know what is the worst? When you turn up somewhere expecting to pay $x but having to pay $2x instead. And then realising you have to go back again on Monday, and pay another $x.
Yeah, my car's WOF was coming up (2nd sept), so I thought hmm its pretty close to being due for a service as well anyway, lets do them both at the same time
so yeah. Ahahah. Costs lots. At least they replaced the brake pads (man so much better, you can really tell the difference in braking power...)...but I have to go back in on Monday again. Arrr.
Lol. Okay, so like, today because my car was at the service thing, I wasn't able to make it for my group meeting. And for the 3 or so hours the rest of my group was in the city, they didn't get anything done. It's awesome lol. And then the text i got (which i assume was at the conclusion of their meeting) was all like : "yo can't get the pictures working". I pop on my computer just now, and I get some working in about 5 minutes... lol
And I swear I told them .bmp
Ah well
>.> its not even worth that many % anyway

Tonight, Jason Baer and... what's her face I dunno ANYWAY the leads in the movie The Tattooist were in Hoyts for a while.

I think James Patterson is shit. He honestly like, is one of those lame authors who churn out a book every month and urgh I just think you should stop saturating the market. Like Dean Koontz. Ok well I liked some of the books I've read of his but when an author keeps hogging the "new releases" bit, it's a bit of a stupid look.

Good news: not sick.
Bad news: I think I'm getting RSI in my left hand pinky from playing teh cello, it hurts when I apply pressure oh noes?!
It's just a series of complaints with me, isn't it? Haha, but no, I am happy now :) Because I'm feeling heaps better!!
Normal just became super.
---
King Lear last night I saw, it is very good! Like the plot itself is very cool to be honest; a madman leading the blind? Treachery, loyalty, madness, age; it's all under scrutiny in a brilliant play. And yeah I mean c'mon how often you get to see the Royal Shakespeare Company? And Sir Ian McKellen being a crazy king?
Not often!

So I just went to the doctor.
The receptionist at Vincent St Family Doctors....in a word, sucks. Like, like, lol. I don't want to be mean, but I really have to. she is horrible.
But the doctor himself is cool
luckily he doesnt think there is anything wrong with me.
Very thorough checkup. It involved a stethoscope. That always makes me feel better.
I have prescription,
he said i woiuld probably get better without it also
but at least now i can say yeah i saw the doctor.

There is some sort of weird fate-rubbish going on right now.
So yeah. I'm *really* sick. I feel like a broken record but honestly, I am not used to prolonged illness. Normally it's one or two days and I'm feeling fine again but I've had this ridiculous flu/virus thing for almost two weeks now, shitty nose running, and mucus and coughing and stuff, and now the latest addition to that lineup of complaints is something akin to stomach pain. It's weird. Sometimes I think I'm just hungry (because it sort of like..I can't explain but it could be that) and then I eat stuff and then it just hurts with the bonus of feeling like wanting to throw up.
As you can imagine, working was really bad yesterday.
I really wanna get better by tomorrow because a) band playing b) assignment due
But anyway back to the weird fate-thing.
I forgot to wear a tie today (my thing where I am wearing ties to work) but I called in sick anyway. Because you know, I am sick and all that. I really hate calling in sick. It's like saying "i give up, i can't take this anymore" (but seriously, it is just getting to the stage where i dont want to do anything at all)
I also tried to find a free phone today at uni. There is one near cultural space (filled to the brim with cultural PIs lol) but it didnt work. I ended up using the one @ reception in the AUSA house.
But yeah. More twist-fate.
So I have a test today right. And yeah, obviously I feel like shit. So I wouldn't have done particularly well.
So we're sitting in HSB1, the lecturer turns up, test papers are being handed out...
then BAM they run out of test papers. They needed like 160 and didn't have enough for half the people in the room.
So the test has been moved.
Yeah. After that, I tried to see a doctor @ uni but apparently there was a backlog until like Monday. They said emergency service is available but I'd feel like a twat taking that up. I only met one of the criteria anyway, abdominal pain.
Honestly, the Monday of the holidays, if I still feel remotely like this, it's just gonna be like..

3rd December. Saturday. 2005.
Is it wrong to enjoy reading what you'd previously written? Strange. It doesn't seem like reading my thoughts, yet that's what it is.
Jeez that sounds pretentious. As you were! Hope the sick-germ bombs are spreading to everyone so I'm not alone in my misery :) Maybe I'll go cough outside for a bit.
I think that is the meaning of life, to sit around and think about things, until you think you know it all and then you finally realise you are about to die.

1) Driving for longer than an hour in the dark in the rain and if you're stupid with directions like me, is incredibly stressful.
Went to APO concert tonight. It was very good (and worth the stress of the drive to get there) - Ives 3 pieces of New england (or something), then Gareth Farr's Triple concerto and Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet.
ok Ives
its very modern yay
2nd movement was the best, lots of energy and very eccentric music, totally awesome and vibrant. full of character (and lovely rhythms and interplay between them)
---
Farr's triple concerto (this is the piece i had to hear) - was very cool. the NZ trio were very proficient, the triple concerto: 1st movment very eastern in harmony and flavour, lots of pentatonic stuff left hand on piano played octaves which added to the lushness and lots of string work thick rich kind of like chocolate
2nd movement was cool
3rd movement i believe was started attaca (no break between the 2nd and 3rd ) - highly driving and rhythmical, always a constant pulse
i have notes somewhere but im sure you all dont care
---
prokofiev's romeo and juliet, well, i was kinda waiting for the one that josh groban sings but i guess it isn't prokofiev's lollllzzz it was still cool though and again a lot more "modern" than i thoiught it would be
awesome
---
I was coughing like you know the tickle cough do you have any idea how incredibly painful it is on the mind to try and withhold those coughs >< I was making spastic faces and breaking out into sweats in efforts to curb the coughs. Nice lady sitting in front of me gave me smints and they kinda helped lol. im pretty sure she only gave them to me to shut me up but oh well lol its not like I enjoyed ruining the pepole in A Reserve's time (hahah $120.00 ticket ruined by some stupid student who coughed heaps)
it was real funny too you could tell a lot of people wanted to cough because between ppieces and movements and stuff there would always be a cough-wave
lolz
dammit i hope this sickness isn't goiung to stay much longer, i dont really care for it to be honest

POST 1500
A short history of this Blog follows:
I remember William did some Harry Potter parody, and was hosting it on blogspot. And then he had a blog. And then I had one. The earliest entries were, to be honest, very reflective on just how far we've all come. I mean, devilmatrix? come on lol can you say lame
actually, this blog is still very lame. But the difference is, at least now, it's not contrived lame, just pure unadulterated lame!
This blog has seen me through countless rants about exams both in school and uni, this blog PREDATES FFXI (yeah can you believe that, I sure cannot), has heaps and heaps of hidden secret easter eggs that only I know about (don't bother looking you won't find it), seen me through holidays, overseas trips to Australia, Thailand, taken heaps of complaints about assignments (espeically the ones I do at the last minute, like today...), neuroticism...
It is almost a certainty this blog will not last forever. But the best one can hope for is that before it disappears, I will have the opportunity to record the last...I don't even know, is it 5? years of my life from this digital medium into something that lasts even longer. It's fun to look back.
But it's even greater to be moving forward. All the best!

Today at work, had a competition to see who could sell the most calico bags. Actually, to see who could sell two bags first (and to be honest lol I was very skeptical, considering they are not very well sold)
Well, I won lol, and I sold 4 at teh end of the day (yeah thats right, i won AND kept selling them how dumb is that huh) so I got to pick something to the value of $10.00 out of the paperchase section. i have a nice notebook now yay

CS345
No offense to the lecturer but...sometimes I wonder why I am doing such an arse paper lol.
Okay, so like we have an Assignment. Yes.
Part of the requirements is a scenario.
From the handout:
And the sample scenario in the lecture slides: http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/compsci345s2c/lectures/L2%20PictureScenario.pdf
Ok. So we're doing a diet diary right.
So yeah. So we wrote our two scenarios as sort of like background stories leading up to use of the interface. I mean, considering we already have all the interface documentation and we did test it by "Wizard of Oz" (mock-test), it really didn't seem very helpful to have a page of "and then John pressed this button and it showed this, he decided to click this" etc
but it turns out thats what she fuckin wanted
okay
and get this
she expected us to do it this way, because it's in page 201 in the textbook.
Okay. Sweet. Except we weren't told to read it. So how can you say "okay we're gonna mark it based on *this* particular definition of what we mean by scenario"?
She then went on to say "omg ur third year should i have to tell you to read a textbook"?
Well, yeah, if you want to actually get back scenarios in the style you require. You know, when you assume...ass... yeah...
And anyway. If the textbook is so awesome, why don't we just save like the extra 400 bucks or whatever, just buy the textbook and be done with it? What is the point of lectures?
Gosh. Sometimes eh, and then this other group was like "oh i thought it was obvious" well obviously because you guessed right and you're on her side you silly suckup slut
ok lol thats enough hate
woo

Totally unmotivated for CS335. Will *have* to do it tomorrow. Presentation for HCI is tomorrow as well, urgh.
So yeah, I was looking around at domain names (cause William has one) so like... www.henrychong.com is free. I kind of want that. Or www.blakomen.com.
But www.henrychong.net is taken. And so is www.blakomen.com.
But okway anyway the point of this post is (apart from dumping my mind)
i like just randomly put in www.henrychong.com on a couple of domain name things, and this one particular site (to save it face i wont tell you which) also offers "alternative domains"
here is the listing i got:
Seriously. Lawlz
